Stroke prevention in non-valvular atrial fibrillation, treatment and prevention of DVT/PE, post-orthopedic surgery prophylaxis.
Typical dosing
Typical adult dose: 5 mg twice daily (2.5 mg in select patients).
Side effects
Bleeding (most important), bruising, anemia.
Interactions to know
Avoid combining with other anticoagulants/antiplatelets unless prescribed. Strong CYP3A4/P-gp inhibitors and inducers affect levels.
